To Whom It May Concern:

This is to serve as a Letter of Recommendation for Costa Rica NewLook and their Plastic Sugery Program

First, allow me to say that I was very cautious and concerned about traveling to another country to have plastic surgery performed.

A friend of mine had been a patient of Dr. Luis Carlos Pastor M.D., and had highly recommended him to me. After having many conversations with Carolina Aguilar, the Patient Services Coordinator, I decided to use Dr. Pastor myself, and to make the trip to Costa Rica. I spoke with Carolina MANY times over the internet, and on the phone. Regardless of how many questions and clarifications I requested, (and there were A LOT ), Carolina took the time to answer all of them. She was wonderful! She was constantly reassuring me that all would go well, and encouraging positive thoughts from the very start. She helped me organize my travel, and personally greeted me at the airport with a welcoming smile and open arms. Once there, she was with me every step of the way: from the consultation, to the hospital, to the operating room, to the recovery room, the hospital room, and then the recovery house. She attended every meeting with me with Dr. Pastor, both pre-operative and post-operative. She gave her opinions, her advice, and encouragement. I don't know what I would have done without her. She made me feel "at home", which seemed an impossibility while being in a foreign country.

Dr. Pastor was equally wonderful throughout the procedure. At my first consultation, he was very reassuring. He did everything possible to make me feel comfortable with him as a surgeon. My procedure was a breast enlargement. I had arrived with preconceived notions of what I wanted, and he listened to my endless chattering! He then informed me of his recent Plastic Surgeons Conference in Brazil just the week before I arrived. He told me of all of the advances in Plastic Surgery, and gave me his own suggestions and professional advice on my surgery. I decided to go entirely with what Dr. Pastor suggested. He is, after all, the expert! I was worried, but was reassured again that all would be perfect with the surgery. The morning of the surgery, Dr. Pastor himself came to my hospital room to speak with me. He allayed any concerns I had, and even made a few humorous comments to get me to relax. He went over the procedure, and gave me a hug and a kiss. He felt like so much more than a "doctor." I am used to the abrupt and impersonal bedside manner I have gotten used to in the United States. Dr. Pastor treated me as if I was his daughter. It really put me at ease, and gave me confidence that I was in excellent hands

The surgery went very well. I saw Dr. Pastor two times after the surgery, and he was equally professional, caring, and thorough. He gave me detailed instructions for my post-operative care, and reassured me that all looked wonderful. He and Carolina gave me a final hug and kiss, as well as a little gift to take with me. I felt as if I was leaving two dear friends. I am just over one month postoperative, and have corresponded with Carolina and Dr. Pastor several times since then. They are just as pleased as I am with my results. They continue to ask pertinent questions about my recovery, and then go over my instructions to be sure I am following them. Even though I am back in the U.S., I still feel as if they are both watching over me. It is wonderful! How many of us could say that of the doctors here in the U.S.? Not many.

I would like to sum up by stating that I would return to Costa Rica immediately for any other plastic surgery I will need in the future. Dr. Pastor and Carolina have made a lifetime member out of me. I cannot say enough great things about them. I would highly recommend them and their services to anyone contemplating plastic surgery. My mother, who accompanied me on this trip, is thinking of scheduling her own surgery with Dr. Pastor. She was absolutely in awe of the treatment I received there, as well as at the Hospital Catholica. I will return to Costa Rica someday, but will miss both Dr. Pastor and Carolina until then!
