Dr. Marlen Vega, MD
Dr. Vega graduated with honors from the Universidad of Costa Rica. She has a Masters degree in Health Administration from the Instituto Centroamericano de Administración Pública.
Later on she became resident doctor at the Hospital San Juan de Dios, where to this day she continues to practice her medical specialty.
She acquired extensive experience in the field of Advanced Endoscopic Surgery in Mexico D.F. and assisted to numerous medical seminars on Bariatric Surgery, General and Laparoscopic Surgery in México, United States, and Costa Rica.
Dr. Vega has received several awards for her outstanding social services, including a prize for the Pan-American Organization of Health (OPS). Among her publications in medical magazines we find studies in Laparoscopy and Bariatric surgery.
As a Professor of the University of Costa Rica, she gives speeches on Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery not only on campus but also in several medical institutions and hospitals. She now works as Coordinator of the General Bariatric Surgery Committee in the Hospital San Juan de Dios General Surgery One and the Laparoscopy Surgical Unit. Dr. Vega is an active member of the International Federation for Obesity Surgery IFSO.
